I have always had a great interest in horses. After graduating from Brown I entered the University of Kentucky
in Lexington. Needing a job to pay for my education, I was fortunate
to find a job working on a Thoroughbred breeding farm. After four months the stallion manager and his wife "adopted"
me. Their son was in the Army so I moved into his room.
June 1962 I graduated form the University of Kentucky with a B.S. degree in Agriculture and a
major in Animal Husbandry.
After graduating from UK I left the farm to go to the race track. After a year at the race track,
I applied to the University of Georgia Veterinary School, and was accepted. I received my DVM degree in June 1967.
After graduating from Georgia I joined a three man exclusively horse practice in Miami. We covered all of the race
tracks in South Florida, plus an outside country practice from West palm Beach to Homestead - about 100 miles north
to south.
Shortly after going to Miami I met a wonderful lady while treating her horse. Gina and I were married in 1969. We
had one son, Charles, who is now a CPA in Jacksonville. Charles and his wife Mary Ann presented us with our first
grandchild - Matthew, who has just turned two.
In 1984 Gina and I left South Florida and bought 75 acres in Reddick - between Ocala and Gainesville, Florida. We
wanted to start a small veterinary practice and build our own breeding farm.
After Charles left home Gina became a Realtor. Presently I have given up most of the outside veterinary practice.
Our time is spent raising horses mostly -Thoroughbreds but some Appaloosas - and taking care of the farm.
In my spare time I enjoy building furniture and riding motorcycles.
