Accessing This Board

Postby administrator » Fri May 09, 2008 11:26 am

This Message Board is primarily intended for anyone who grew up in West End and especially those who have attended Joseph E. Brown High School in Atlanta, GA.

Other interested people are also welcome.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions about using this Board may be found by clicking on the FAQ Button to the left above, or at this link, http://joebrownhigh.org/forum/faq.php

Registration is an inconvenience, but it is necessary to prevent spammers and hackers from ruining the Forum.

Until you become a registered user and log in to the Board, you will be able to read all public Forums, but not post any replies or start new Topics.

To be able to access the messages in other Forums for reading or posting, or to send email to members, you will have to log in using your Username and Password.

To register, please use the Register button next to the Log In Button and fill out any required information, including your Username, Password, email address.

Upon completion of your registration, your application will be forwarded to the Forum Administrator who will activate your account. You will be notified when your account has been activated and you may begin posting.

This requirement for activation of registration has been reinstated after temporary suspension during drive for new members.

If you wish, e-mail me at email@JoeBrownHigh.org and I will personally register you. Include the information listed above in the e-mail and you will receive notification upon completion of registration. I will notify you of your Username and Password if you didn''t specify these in your request.

After your registration has been activated, and you have logged in, please start a new topic under the ''Introduce Yourself'' Forum with your name as Topic and tell us something about yourself.

Step by step instructions on Registering may be found at http://joebrownhigh.org/Documentation/Forum/Forum.html

The requirement to notify the Administrator about your name and connection to Brown has been replaced by the required 'Full Name', 'Status' and 'Class' fields upon registration.

If you should forget your password at any time, please click on the ''I Forgot My Password'' on the login screen, or notify the Forum Administrator emailr@joebrownhigh.org. Specify your Username or email address.

The Rules for this Message Board are specified in the Opening Screen after the Register Button has been activated. You must agree to these rules to be allowed to participate.

The management reserves the right to remove any participant who violates the rules. Other rules may be added at any time to insure a properly functioning Board.

Brown High attendees are entitled to a free e-mail mailbox or an email forwarding address of the form ''yourname@joebrownhigh.org''.

An e-mail mailbox is a full action system which allows for the sending and receiving of e-mail messages. It may be accessed either through a web browser such as Internet Explorer or FireFox or through an e-mail client such as Outlook or Outlook Express.

A forwarding address allows only for the receiving of messages which are in turn forwarded to your existing e-mail account.

To obtain either of these, please contact the Forum Administrator. email@joebrownhigh.org.

Using the Members Button above, you may send and receive e-mails to any other member of the forum directly at their registered e-mail address or privately on this forum. No private e-mail addresses are listed so the Forum can not be used by spammers to obtain your address.

Additional Forums will be added from time to time. These will be restricted Forums and will be visible and accessible only to members of the group associated with it. e.g. "Class of 1958".

The expenses for the first year of operation of this website and this Board have been paid. To continue operation beyond the first year, I will be asking participants to voluntarily donate $1 or $2 dollars each year, (or less if there are a sufficient number of participants), towards that goal as the end of the first year approaches in September. (Funds received in excess of current requirements will be carried forward to the next year, or be used to pay for enhancements.)
